Objectives
Specific objectives established for the course to
facilitate the student's achievement of the course goals include: Students will
describe the basic requirements for starting a new business, specify
requirements for taxes, licenses and other requirements to start a small
business, list the needed technology, computer, office machine, and
communications requirements for a small business, conduct basic research and
complete an industry analysis for an industry of the students choosing, develop
a marketing plan for a small business, develop a financial plan, including
projections and assumptions, list the legal and insurance requirements for a
small business, and identify sources of financing for a small business.
A completed business plan for the business chosen is a primary objective of the
class. Each student is expected to complete and submit a business plan at the
completion of the program.
